TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Fifth-ranked Florida State (17-4-1) will take on California (11-8-1) on Sunday, November 15 at 1:00 p.m., in the second round of the 2009 NCAA Tournament.
This marks the third all-time meeting between these two schools as all three contests have come in the NCAA Tournament in Tallahassee. The Seminoles have been on the winning end in each of the first two meetings outscoring the Golden Bears 5-2. FSU eliminated Cal 2-1 in the third round in 2005 and then 3-1 in the second round in 2006. In 2006, Cal defeated Auburn 3-1 in the first round.
FSU defeated Southeastern Louisiana 4-1 to open the 2009 Tournament in Tallahassee, while California upended Auburn 2-1 in overtime.
The Seminoles are 25-8-2 in 10 all-time tournament appearances, while the Golden Bears stand at 13-16-1 in 17 postseason trips.
Sunday’s second round action will broadcast live on FS Florida. FS Florida can be seen in Tallahassee on Comcast channel 29 and nationally on DirecTV channel 654 and Dish Network channel 423.
