TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Fifth-ranked Florida State (5-1-0) wraps up its three-game home stand on Sunday, September 14 when the Seminoles host the Stetson Hatters (1-4-1) at 1 pm inside the Seminole Soccer Complex. Admission is free to all regular season home matches, while fans are encouraged to stick around after the match as members of the soccer team will be signing autographs.
Florida State is 1-1-0 during its current home stretch and following a tough 2-1 loss to Florida last Friday night, the Seminoles responded with a 4-0 shutout victory over St. John’s.
In 10 seasons under head coach Mark Krikorian, the Seminoles are 37-3-2 after a loss outscoring the opposition 126-22 during that span. FSU has suffered back-to-back losses just three times with Krikorian at the helm.
Florida State enjoyed a week off following Monday’s match against the Red Storm, while Stetson will make the trek north to Tallahassee after hosting Bucknell on Friday night. The Hatters face the Bison coming off their first victory of the season on September 7 defeating Wingate 3-2 in DeLand.
The Seminoles are 7-0-0 all-time against Stetson, outscoring the Hatters 23-1 since the series started in 1997. Stetson’s only goal in the series came in 2006 on a free kick from midfield by Brittany Jones.
Florida State defeated Stetson, 6-0, in their last meeting on Aug. 29, 2010. Five different Seminoles scored a goal in that game while the Hatters also committed an own goal.
Over 20 seasons, Florida State soccer has a 55-18-2 record against schools from the state of Florida.
