TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – (Seminoles.com) – The Florida State indoor volleyball team continues to make history as it jumped one spot to No. 4 in the Week Six AVCA Coaches Poll after stretching the record-setting start to 15-0 with wins over Georgia Tech and Miami this past weekend. The list was released on Monday by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
The ranking ties the highest in ACC history – a mark that was set on Oct. 27, 2003 when Georgia Tech was listed at No. 4.
“It’s really amazing what these ladies have accomplished so far,” FSU head coach Chris Poole said. “I’m very proud of the effort and determination and I’m looking forward to seeing that continue.”
In addition to the AVCA ranking, the Seminoles debuted at No. 2 in the NCAA RPI rankings behind Stanford. Florida State defeated three teams in the top 10 in 2014 (No. 7 North Carolina, No. 9 Nebraska, No. 10 Florida) and have topped three more teams in the top 30 (No. 18 Texas A&M, No. 21 Marquette, No. 26 Iowa State).
Florida State will face Louisville on Friday at 7 p.m. on RSN before returning home for the annual ‘Paint it Pink’ match on Sunday at 1 p.m. against NC State.
