TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The No. 3 women and No. 15 men cross country teams at Florida State are set to compete in the lone home meet of the 2010 season Friday night at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee.
Also featuring Florida, North Florida, University of Tampa, Stephen F. Austin, Troy, Fort Valley State, the Florida Track Club and Edward Waters, the FSU Invitational will begin at 6:20 p.m. when the women begin their 5k. The men will then run shortly thereafter in an 8k event.
This year will be different than season’s past as head coaches Bob Braman and Karen Harvey have elected to run their top student-athletes in the hopes of using the event as extra training for the upcoming rigors of the cross country campaign.
Friday’s meet will conclude with an awards ceremony.
The FSU Invitational will also serve as the cross country program’s day to honor the Paint It Pink Initiative in support of breast cancer research. FSU marketing staff will be on hand Friday night tossing out cross country t-shirts to those fans that come out and support the Seminoles and the cause.
Stay tuned to Seminoles.com for meet results Friday night as well as quotes from both FSU coaches.
The Seminoles will then travel next week to the Royal Cross Country Challenge in Charlotte, NC.
