Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida State men’s and women’s tennis teams will hold a round robin doubles tournament on Friday, December 8 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. All of the proceeds from the tournament will go to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. The tournament will feature a member of the men’s and women’s teams paired up with a fan who contributed an entry fee of $100 minimum.
“I think we always want to be involved in the community,” said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “Even though it was a year ago there are still a lot of things that we can help with the Katrina victims. By running this tennis tournament we will help them right before Christmas and it will be a good way for our student-athletes to giving of their time and tennis skills to help those people there.”
The men’s spring tennis season will begin January 19 when they host Florida A&M and North Florida at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. The women’s spring season will begin when they travel to Evanston, Ill., for a quad meet which will feature host school Northwestern as well as Penn State and New Mexico.
