The Florida State cross country teams competed at the Florida Invitational Saturday morning in Gainesville, Fla., with the men placing fourth and the women finishing ninth. Allison Lind had the best finish for the Seminoles, placing 21st in the women’s 6k run. Jim Van Veen led the way for the men with a 22nd-place finish.
All five scoring runners for the men’s squad placed in the top 50. Zach Heissner was second for FSU, placing 31st. Rounding out the scorers for the Tribe were Nate Davis (35th), Shawn Patterson (41st) and Lars Tveter (48th).
On the women’s side, Rachel Marsh had the second-best finish for FSU, placing 53rd. Other scorers for the Lady Seminoles were Abbie Day (62nd), Sydney Mondragon (78th) and Laura Melendez (81st).
The Seminoles will return to the trails on Oct. 19, when they travel to Terre Haute, Ind., to compete at the NCAA Pre-Nationals.
