FSU Men’s Tennis Completes Day Three at the ITA Region II Championships

The Florida State men’s tennis team completed say three of action at the ITA Region II Championships. Seminole’s Xavier Luscan and Romain Jurd advance to round three of the tournament.


In main draw action FSU’s Luscan, who is seeded fourth in the tournament defeated Charlotte’s Jacob Nordwall in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1 to advance to round two where he took the win over James Cameron from Furman. In round three action Luscan is set to face the No. 14 seed, Alex Bose of Duke, Saturday, Oct. 27 at 9:00 a.m. Joining Luscan was sophomore standout Romain Jurd. Jurd will join Luscan in third round action following his first round defeat over Wake Forest’s Andrew Simpson. In the second round Jurd defeated the No. 12 seed of VCU, Fernando Sanches, 6-3, 1-6, ret. Jurd will now face the No. 3 seed, Marcio Petrone of UNC, Saturday morning at 9:00. Florida State’s Alex Herrera fell in round one action to the No. 5 seed of the tournament Roger Anderson if Georgia Tech.


After qualifying for the main draw of doubles action the Seminole tandem of Luscan and Rodrigo Laub advanced to round two of the tournament after taking the win over ECU’s Julien Crevelier and Charl Meyer 8-6. In round two FSU would fall to the No. 7 seed duo of Sean Kelleher and Geoff Russel of W&M, 8-6. FSU’s Alex Herrera and Jarrod Owen fell in round one to the No. 1 doubles team from Georgia Tech in Roger Anderson and David Wright, 8-5.


Action will resume Saturday at 9:00 a.m. as Luscan and Jurd continue competition in round three action.
