FSU Men’s Tennis Drops Final Home Match Of Season

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Wednesday, April 5th marked the last home match
for the 1999-2000 Seminole men’s tennis team. FSU’s home record dropped to
9-3 with a 4-3 loss to 22nd-ranked South Alabama. The 47th-ranked
Seminoles record falls to 11-8 with three regular season matches remaining.

After four years of competing for the Seminoles, senior Mike Ingham
appeared for the last time as a player at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.
Ingham dropped his match to Christian Thall at the No. 2 singles position
by a score of 7-6 (5), 6-1 to go 7-3 at home in his senior year. Overall,
Ingham is 15-12 as a senior and has won 82 of 122 single’s matches in his

Clinching one of three points for Florida State was No. 1 singles
player, sophomore Xavier Luscan who pulled out his match against Julien
Roynal from South Alabama, 6-4, 6-3. Luscan’s victory improves his record
at the No. 1 position to 13-6 and his home record to 10-2.

Scoring the second point of the match for FSU was sophomore Noah
Schnell at the No. 4 position. Schnell notched the victory over Zak
Lahmar by a tight score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. The win provided a boost to
Schnell’s record which now stands at 9-10 this spring. FSU freshman
Rodrigo Laub secured his match against Alantro Stupausky by a score of 6-3,
3-6, 7-5 to boost his season record at No. 6 singles to 8-4.

In the doubles portion of the match, South Alabama won all three
matches to win the point. At No. 1, FSU’s Luscan/Laub were defeated by
USA’s McInerney/Stupausky 8-6 while FSU’s Travis/Schnell dropped their
match to South Alabama’s Baudat/Raynal by a score of 9-7 at No. 2 doubles.

To conclude the doubles matches, the Florida State duo of Ingham/Scarella
fell short of a victory to South Alabama’s Thall/Zinchanka by a score 8-5
at No. 3.
