TALLAHASSEE, FL.–The 51st-ranked Florida State men’s tennis team was riding a three match winning streak heading into the match with No. 48 North Carolina on Saturday afternoon, but the Seminoles came up short against the Tar Heels, falling 1-6.
FSU’s Xavier Luscan and Bartosz Koldej defeated David Cheatwood and Nicholas Monroe at the No. 1 doubles position, 9-8, but UNC won at No. 2 and 3 to clinch the first point of the match.
Florida State’s Xavier Luscan won his fifth straight singles match by defeating Marcio Petrone at the No. 1 position, 6-7, 6-2, 6-2. However, the Tar Heels came out on top in the other singles matches, making the final score 6-1.
The loss puts FSU at 9-9 on the season and 4-2 in ACC action, while UNC improves their record to 8-5 overall and 4-0 in the ACC.
The Seminoles will be back in action tomorrow, Sunday April 1st, when they travel to Durham, N.C., to take on No. 3 Duke at 1:30 p.m.
