The Florida State men’s tennis team is still alive in championship action as sophomore standout Romain Jurd advances into semifinals action. Tournament action will conclude Sunday, Oct. 28th.
In main draw action FSU’s Xavier Luscan and Jurd both took wins to advance to the quarterfinals. Luscan first defeated the No. 14 seed of Duke in Alex Bose, 6-4, 6-4. Luscan advanced to the quarterfinals round where he fell to the NO. 10 seed of the tournament David Lowenthal of Wake Forest. Luscan took the first set 6-4, would fall in the second 4-6 and would fall again in a close third set 7-6 (2).
Sophomore Jurd returned to action in the third round of competition today. Jurd would take the win over the No. three seed Marcio Petrone of UNC in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. In the quarterfinals Jurd defeated Joao Menano of Georgia Tech, 7-5, 7-6 (5). Jurd is not set to face the No. five seed of the main draw in Roger Anderson of Georgia Tech, Sunday, Oct. 28 at 9:00 a.m.
