FSU Men’s Tennis Sykut Gets Professional Experience During The Summer

Godfrey, Ill. – Florida State’s rising sophomore Maciek Sykut (Marathon, Fla./ Marathon HS) represented the United States during the 2006 USTA Pro Circuit Competitions this summer at the Lewis and Clark Community College.

Sykut fell to Matt Roberts of the United States in the second round on Thursday, July 27, to a score of 5-7, 1-6. Yesterday he defeated Canada’s Mikhail Lew in a close match of 7-6 (4), 6-4. After battling in the qualifying round, he was able to make the main draw. Sykut began the qualifying draw in the second round facing Nicolas Edlefsen winning 6-3, 6-3. He defeated Evan Dufaux 6-3, 6-2 in the third round advancing to face ACC Player of the Year Luigi D’Agord in the finals and won an exciting match 7-5, 6-2.
