MARTIN SETS WINS RECORD
On May 5 at Clemson, Florida State outlasted the Tigers 3-2 in 13 innings, earning head coach Mike Martin is 1,976th career victory, passing Augie Garrido for the all-time record. Drew Parrish allowed just two hits and a run in 6.1 innings and CJ Van Eyk allowed four hits and struck out seven batters over the final 6.1 innings, moving to 3-0 on the season.

Right fielder Steven Wells tallied a pair of outfield assists, ending the first and fifth innings with double plays from his arm. After going 0-for-6, Wells stepped to the plate in the 13th inning and smashed a 1-2 pitch over the left field wall for a 3-2 lead. Van Eyk worked around an error in the bottom of the inning, forcing a fly out to Wells to secure the victory.

Garrido passed away March 15, leading Martin to say, “College baseball and the world lost one of the finest men in our coaching profession. Augie dedicated his life to making young men better people. He will be deeply missed by myself and many others.”
