TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Top-ranked Florida State (29-7) returns to Tallahassee to face North Georgia College in the first of a seven-game home stand which begins on Wednesday, April 18 at 6:00 p.m.
The Seminoles and Saints will meet for the time in school history on Wednesday. North Georgia College is a Division II school out of the Peach Belt Conference. The Saints are led by Tom Cantrell, who is in his 13th season as head coach at NGCU. The Saints went 34-20 last year including a record of 10-14 in the Peach Belt Conference.
Nice To Meet You
Florida State’s mid-week match-up against North Georgia College marks the first of two first time opponents the Seminoles will play this year. Rhode Island is the second team this year that FSU has never faced as the Rams come to Tallahassee the week of April 27-29.
FSU has fared well when facing a team for the first time posting an all-time record of 178-46 (.795). The last time the Seminoles faced a first time opponent was in 2010 when FSU played three schools including LeMoyne and Central Connecticut St. and Oregon in the NCAA Norwich Regional.
Vs. Non-Conference Opponents
Florida State has posted a record of 13-5 against non-conference competition this year. The Seminoles have registered a mark of 6-0 against non-conference schools outside the state of Florida posting series sweeps against Hofstra and Maine. FSU is 5-3 in games decided by three runs or less against non-conference foes.
