March 4, 2008

Cleveland, OH -Stack Magazine recently released a list of its Elite 50 colleges for athletic and academic performance and Florida State ranked among the nation’s best. The Seminoles checked in at No. 22 on the list, which was based on four academic and athletic categories. FSU was one of nine ACC schools in the top 35 led by No. 1 North Carolina. No conference had more schools in the top 35 than the Atlantic Coast Conference.

FSU ranked fourth among ACC schools in the survey and was led by its back-to-back National Championship track team, national finalist women’s soccer team, baseball and men’s tennis teams according to the magazine. The Seminoles finished in the top 15 according to the survey for their athletic team’s performance on the field.

The Stack Elite 50 was determined using the 2008 U.S. World News & Report on America’s best colleges, the Academic Progress Report (APR), athletic performance national rankings and won-loss records. National rankings and won-loss record were determined over a three-year period.
