FSU Relays Begin with Decathlon and Heptathlon

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — In rainy conditions at Mike Long Track, the Florida
State Relays completed the first half of the decathlon and heptathlon
competitions this afternoon. A pair of Tallahassee athletes lead the way
for FSU.

Freshman Chinette Johnson (Lincoln HS) stands in first place after day
one with a point total of 2972 in the heptathlon. Tomorrow, Johnson will
attempt to hold her lead with the long jump, javelin and 800m.

On the men’s side, Sophomore Darius Jones (Godby HS) finished the first
day in second place in the decathlon with 3688 points with the 110m
hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1500m remaining. Todd Doughty
(unattached) leads the decathlon with 3810 points.

Action continues tomorrow in Tallahassee with the decathlon starting at
10:00 a.m. and the heptathlon at 10:30 a.m. Field events will start
tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. with the men’s hammer. Friday’s field events begin
at 9:00 a.m. with running events at 11:30 a.m. with Saturday’s field events
starting at 10:00 a.m. and running events at 12:00 p.m. (last event @ 4:55
p.m.). Admission is free to the public.
