TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State Relays got underway today at Mike Long Track with the first day of the heptathlon and decathlon. A pair of FSU athletes and Tallahassee natives stand in second place after one day of action. Darius Jones is 66 points behind the leader (James Johnson, Liberty) at 3,935 in the decathlon while Chinette Johnson is second at 2,971. Tyleana Hanner leads the heptathlon with 3,192 points. The heptathlon and decathlon will conclude tomorrow with Jones and Johnson aiming for titles.
Several field events will also begin tomorrow, but the majority of the meet takes place on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s field events start at 9:00 a.m. and the running events start at 11:30 a.m. while Saturday’s field events are scheduled for an 10:00 a.m. start and the running events 12:00 noon. Friday’s final race is the women’s 10K at 8:30 p.m. and the FSU Relays conclude Saturday with the running of the men’s 4x400m relay at 4:55 p.m. Admission is free to the public.
