TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – (Seminoles.com) The eighth-ranked Florida State indoor volleyball team (26-2. 14-2) will face Clemson on Wednesday and Miami on Friday to close out the 2014 regular season in Tully Gym. Both matches are scheduled for 1 p.m.
“It’s extremely important that we continue to play well on our side of the net,” FSU head coach Chris Poole said. “We certainly respect both teams. They played us very well on the road.”
Clemson comes to Tallahassee with an 18-12 overall record and a 6-10 showing in conference play. The Seminoles faced the Tigers earlier in the season on the road and had to come back and force and win a fifth set in order to remain unbeaten.
Florida State holds the series lead, 31-20 following that five-set thriller on Nov. 2.
Miami is 20-7 on the year and 13-3 in the ACC, sitting in fourth place. The Hurricanes will be the 13th teams the Seminoles have faced this season inside the Top 50 in the NCAA RPI. Miami currently sits at 28 while FSU is up at No. 3.
The Seminoles defeated the Hurricanes in five sets on Oct. 5 in Coral Gables and move their series lead to 24-17-1.
“It’s more about us than the opponent sometimes,” Poole said. “It’s been that way all season. We have a lot of talent and we’ve done some great things this year but we still haven’t reached our fullest potential.”
With two matches remaining, the Seminoles sit in second place in the ACC behind No. 7 North Carolina, however FSU holds the tiebreaker thanks to a 3-0 sweep on Sept. 26 in Tully Gym.
Friday’s contest will be streamed through NolesTV. For more information visit Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
