Tallahassee, FL –
Florida State’s 2002 soccer media guide was named as the nation’s fourth-best Division 1-A soccer publication by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Tuesday. The guide was also rated as the No. 1 media guide in District 3 finishing ahead of Florida, Clemson and North Carolina. This is the first time an FSU soccer media guide has received national recognition from CoSIDA.
There were 94 entries submitted this year and only three guides were judged better than Florida State’s. None of the 18 guides submitted in District 3 were rated higher than FSU’s. The ACC was the only conference to place two publications amongst the top seven in the nation (Maryland finished seventh overall) and four ACC schools received recognition in their district from CoSIDA.
Tuesday’s award from CoSIDA continues the recent success of the FSU Sports Information Office when it comes to publications. Last year the 2002 FSU softball media and the 2001-2002 men’s basketball guide were rated second best in the nation while the 2001-2002 women’s basketball guide placed fourth in the nation. Florida State publications have now placed in the top four in the nation in three straight semesters (winter 2001-2002, spring 2002 and fall 2002).
