TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
After 23 years of accomplishments on the softball field and in the classroom, FSU softball coach Dr. JoAnne Graf gets to add another first to her list when she throws out the first pitch at Saturday’s Tampa Bay Devil Rays game. Graf will be joined by juniors Monique Marier and Jackie Hirschfeld, both from the Tampa area, as they take part in `FSU Day’ at Tropicana Stadium. The Devil Rays host the Florida Marlins with first pitch scheduled for 4:15 p.m.
“This should be a lot of fun as long as I remember how to throw that little ball they use in baseball,” said Graf. “It really is a nice honor for me and our kids to get to go to a Major League stadium and throw out the first pitch in a game between Florida’s only two professional baseball teams.”
The Seminoles completed their 23rd consecutive winning season in 2001 and made their 14th NCAA Tournament appearance. Florida State was a No. 1 seed and hosted a regional this year and came within one strike of making its sixth College World Series appearance.
Tickets range from $4.00 to $195.00 for the July 7th inter-league game between the Rays and Marlins. They can be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling the Devil Rays ticket office at 727-898-RAYS.
