STOCKTON, Calif. – The Florida State softball team fell 5-2 to Pacific this afternoon at the Bill Simoni Softball Field in Stockton, Calif. The Lady Seminoles are now 15-9 on the season.
Pacific scored the first run of the game off a double to centerfield in the first inning but Florida State’s Staci Brandon hit a two-run double to centerfield to give the Lady Seminoles a 2-1 lead in the second inning. The Tigers then scored two in the fourth inning and one in the fifth off a solo homerun to give them the 4-2 lead. Pacific added one in the sixth off a Lady Seminole error to go up 5-2 before the game was called due to rain. Freshman Staci Brandon led the Lady Seminoles, going 2-2 with two RBI’s and a double. Junior Jen White-Stokes took the loss, going to 4-3 on the season while striking out four and walking one. Sophomore Leslie Malerich pitched two innings, striking out three and walking three.
The Lady Seminoles head to Fresno on Thursday for the Hallowell Classic, hosted by Fresno State. FSU will take on #1 UCLA on Friday, March 10 at 1:00pm PST followed by a match-up with Ole Miss at 3:00pm in the first day of the classic.
