FSU Softball Goes 2-3 in ASU Coke Classic

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Junior Becky Wallace had a three run homer in the top of the seventh inning as Florida State defeated UNLV this morning 9-6 in the Arizona State Classic. The Lady Seminoles were 2-3 overall in the tournament.

Leslie Malerich took the win for the Lady Seminoles, putting her record at 2-3. The Lady Seminoles took the early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning and two in the second inning before the Rebels scored their first run in the bottom of the second. The winning runs for FSU were off of four errors by UNLV while senior Tami Post and sophomore Jen White each added a double for the Lady Seminoles. Wallace, who came in to pinch hit in the top of the seventh inning, clinched the win for FSU with her three run homer, the first of the season and of her career.

The Lady Seminoles, now 3-5 on the season, will open their home season hosting Mercer on Friday, February 19. The double-header will begin at 3:00 at the Seminole Softball/Soccer complex, located off of Stadium Drive and Chieftan Way.
