Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida State cross country B-team will take part in the Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. on Friday, September 9, 2005. The striders will see their first action of the season as the women’s race starts at 8:30 a.m. The women’s field consists of 19 teams which include Florida, Miami, USF, UCF, FIU, FAU, Stetson, Troy State and Bethune-Cookman.
The Seminoles’ B-team experienced a large amount of success in 2004. They took third-place at the FLrunners.com Invitational posting a point total of 75. At the Disney Invitational, they had another strong showing, finishing in 13th-place out of 32 teams.
Later this season the Seminole Striders will once again participate in the FLrunners.com Invitational on Friday, September 30 in Dade City, Fla. They will also make the trip back to Orlando, Fla. for the Disney Invitational on Saturday, October 8.
Florida State cross country opened their season on a positive note at the Covered Bridge Open in Boone, N.C. as senior Andrew Lemoncello (St. Andrews, Scotland/ Stirling) and sophomore Laura Bowerman (Temple Terrance, Fla./King) each claimed individual meet titles and helped lead the men’s and women’s squads to 29 and 38-point wins, respectively.
The Florida State men’s and women’s varsity squads return to the course on Saturday, September 17 as they host the FSU Invitational at Miccosukee Greenway. The collegiate men’s race will start at 7:30 a.m. and will be followed by the women’s field at 8:10 a.m.
