FSU Student-Athletes Participate In 2008 Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser

Feb. 27, 2008

On Saturday Feb. 23rd, the Dick Howser Center for Childhood Services held their annual Chili Cook-off at the Market Square shopping center. The event was well attended and despite a little early rain, it turned out to be a beautiful day.

The FSU Athletic Department was well represented as over a dozen Football players, six Women’s Golfers and representatives from both the Volleyball team and the Cheerleading squad were in attendance and got to enjoy the many chili choices from the contestants. They had an opportunity to rub elbows with the many folks from the community who came by to support this great cause.

Additionally, six of the Football players had a chance to compete in the much anticipated Pie Eating Contest. Contestants included, Graham Gano, Maurice (Smiley) Harris, Shawn Powell, Budd Thacker, Matt Dunham and Christian Ponder.

After a heated battle, Matt Dunham was ultimately judged victorious, and as you can tell from the photos, he had some cleaning up to do. Again, it was for a great cause, and everybody who attended had a great time. Photos by FSU Cheerleader Jackie Paul.
