TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State track and field teams (Men- No. 8/ Women- No. 9) will compete in their last regular meet in the Georgia Tech Invitational, May 14-15, in order to regionally qualify additional Seminoles for the NCAA East Regional Championship. The meet with be held at the George C. Griffin Track. The field events will begin Friday at 12 p.m. with the hammer throw and the track events are slated for a 6 p.m. start.

“It’s really important that we keep the momentum going the right direction,” FSU head coach Bob Braman said. “We are going to have a week off from competing after this weekend so it’s important we have a high level of competition at Georgia Tech. We had a great meet last weekend that solidified a lot of our athletes for regionals, but there are a few that still have some work to do.”

While most of the ‘Noles traveling this weekend look to continue training for the regional meet, a select few will be using this meet as their last opportunity to punch their ticket to the post season.

Leading the men’s squad will be Kevin Borlee, Brandon Byram, Michael Putman, Brian Chibudu, Maurice Mitchell and Wes Rickman who all had successful performances last weekend at the Seminole Twilight.

As for the women, Kim Williams will head up the group in addition to Pilar McShine, Danielle Jeffrey, Amy Harris, Callie Giffin and Candyce McGrone.

After taking a week off from competition, Matthew Leeder, Aaron Steele, David Forrester, Allyn Laughlin, Michelle Jenije and Brittany St. Louis look to make strides and improve their marks.
