TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State added to its 2014 baseball schedule on Friday as the Seminoles will face the New York Yankees in an exhibition game on Tuesday, February 25 at 1:05 p.m. on Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Fla.
The game will mark the spring training opener for the Yankees and the third time that Florida State will face New York and the first meeting since 1985.
“We are very proud of the fact that we have this opportunity to play the New York Yankees,” Florida State head coach Mike Martin said. “We are looking forward to seeing a great turnout of Seminoles in the Tampa Bay area for this game.”
Facing a major league team is nothing new to the Seminoles, who played the Philadelphia Phillies three times over a five-year stretch from 2007 to 2011 down in Clearwater. FSU has squared off against a major league team on 11 previous occasions.
Individual-game spring training tickets will go on sale on Friday, January 10 at 10:00 a.m. at the Steinbrenner Field box office, online at www.yankees.com or by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000.

2014 Schedule Change
The game time for Florida State’s series finale against Niagara on Sunday, February 16 has been set for 11:30 a.m. The early start time is to accommodate Niagara’s travel schedule.
