FSU to Start 2012 Season in Early Evening

May 17, 2012

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Game times for Florida State’s first three games of the 2012 college football season were officially announced Thursday afternoon and the good news is that Seminoles fans will get to — for the most part — avoid the intense heat the first two weeks of the year.

FSU will host Murray State and Savannah State in back-to-back weeks to start the season with both games kicking off at 6 p.m. live on ESPN3. The ‘Noles then host Wake Forest on Sept. 15 at noon in a game that will air on either ESPN or ESPN2.

September is notoriously hot in Tallahassee — especially when you are sitting inside a large open bowl as the sun bears down — but with two early-evening to start the season, fans won’t have to deal with such extreme temperatures.

Sure, it will still be warm at kick off but the sun will be setting towards the latter part of the opening halves against Murray State and Savannah State at Doak Campbell Stadium on Sept. 1 and 8, respectively.

In week three, FSU’s conference opener against Wake Forest is slated for a steamy noon kick-off but ‘Noles fans shouldn’t let that affect their ability to give the Demon Deacons a rude welcome. After all, Wake Forest has won two of its last three games in Tallahassee and an extra hostile environment for the game this year sure wouldn’t hurt.

In addition to ideal start times for the first two games, there are several promotions associated with FSU’s first few contests of the new season. The Murray State game will take place on Hall of Fame and Varsity Weekend when the program will recognize the newest inductees into the FSU Athletics Hall of Fame and the Savannah State game will serve as Youth Day and tickets will be just $12 for fans under 18 years of age. The game against the Tigers will also be Band Day for all high school and middle school bands.

The showdown with Wake Forest is the Military Appreciation Game and a special t-shirt and ticket price will be provided to all military that register.

There are a limited number of season tickets available for $199 right now as well as select three-game packs for as low as $117. The three-game pack allows a choice any three games among Murray State, Savannah State, Wake Forest, Clemson, Boston College on Parent’s Weekend and the homecoming game against Duke.
