Teams expected to attend include: Auburn, Central Florida, East Carolina, Florida A&M, Florida International, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Jacksonville (W), Miami (W), South Carolina, South Florida and Tulane.

Last weekend, the Seminoles faced a good mix of ACC and SEC schools at the Clemson Invite. The distance medley relay teams starred for FSU placing first and second in the men’s and women’s events, respectively. The men’s distance medley set the Clemson Indoor record winning the event and ten points toward the final team score in 10:01.4 while the women’s team placed second (eight points) in a time of 11:38.01, missing a provisional qualification by .01 seconds.

Two Tribe members have qualified (automatically or provisionally) for the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., from March 12-13, 2004. Senior Vicky Gill (Lancashire, England/St. Andrews University), who ended her final cross country season with All-America honors, qualified in the 3000m event after besting the current school record by 15 seconds. Reigning ACC Indoor Triple Jump Champion and Outdoor All-American Rafeeq Curry (Miami, Fla./ACE Academy) won the triple jump at the Clemson Opener on December 6 to open this season. The former ACE Academy standout won last season’s Florida Intercollegiates Meet with a jump of 16.17m (53’06.50″), setting an NCAA provisional mark.

Freshman Chris Nickinson (Pensacola, Fla./Washington) was one of five Tribe members to set personal best marks, finished third in the 3000m in a time of 4:18.03…. Freshman Charlene Walker (Orlando, FL/Edgewater) set another collegiate best in the women’s long jump, finishing in fourth-place with a mark of 18’11.5″ scoring five points for FSU… Junior All-American Willie Johnson (Orlando, FL/Edgewater) also set a collegiate best mark with a 23’8″ in the men’s long jump competition.
