The Florida State Lady Seminoles took on ACC opponent NC State tonight at Reynolds Coliseum. Florida State defeated NC State in four games (28-30, 30-13, 30-16, 30-14). With the win the Lady Seminoles improve to 5-8 overall and 3-3 in the ACC, while the Wolfpack falls to 5-8 and 1-5 in conference play.
Three Florida State players had at least 15 kills and hitting percentages over .400. Alex Sevillano led the Lady Seminoles with 15 kills, a .542 hitting percentage and nine digs. Norisha Campbell had 15 kills, a .423 hitting percentage and five blocks. Erica Bunch had 16 kills, a .407 hitting percentage, three blocks and a team-high 10 digs. That trio was augmented by Kristin Frye, who had seven kills, a.500 percentage and five digs for the Tribe.
The Lady Seminoles would see a season-high in service aces with 14 as well as hitting percentage of .411. Sophomore setter for FSU Jennifer Anderson had a match-high 45 assists, while freshman Kameelah Omar tallied six digs and a team-high four service aces.
“I was very pleased with our execution tonight,” said head coach Cecile Reynaud. “This was a good match for us and one that we needed to win after losing last night’s match to UNC.”
NC State was led by Charece Williams with 21 kills and a .191 percentage. Williams had 47 of the Wolfpack’s 128 total attempts. Alison Kreager and Sarah Ensminger shared the team lead with seven digs. Melanie Rowe was second on the Wolfpack with seven kills and also had five digs.
The Lady Seminoles will return home to face FAMU on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at Lucy McDaniel Arena at Tully Gym. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m.
