TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Coming off a successful 2-0 week against Miami and Notre Dame, the Florida State indoor volleyball team was recognized by the ACC on Monday by nabbing conference player and freshman of the week honors.

Senior right-side hitter Elise Walch earned ACC Player of the Week for the second time in her career. Freshman right-side hitter Izzy Carmona became the first Seminole since former setter Jennifer Anderson in 2000 to earn ACC Freshman of the Week honors.

Walch put forth an impressive offensive display this past week in key wins over Miami and Notre Dame. The Stuart, Fla., native hammered 29 kills in two matches and recorded a .489 hitting percentage, showing just six errors in 47 swings. She delivered 17 kills versus the Hurricanes and a 12-kill performance with a .556 hitting percentage against Notre Dame.

The senior standout led Florida State in kills per set and hitting percentage during the past week. With a minimum of 10 kills, Walch has hit .400 or better in six matches this season, and has notched double-digit kill totals in 11 of her 17 matches played. Walch is now the eighth Seminole in school history to record ACC Player of the Week multiple times.

Carmona, who hails from Titusville, Fla., broke a 14-year drought of having a `Nole named ACC Freshman of the Week. The right-side hitter combined for 25 kills and a .438 hitting percentage in what was a career week for the freshman. Carmona produced 15 kills and a .500 hitting percentage against Miami, which included several crucial put-downs late in sets to help close out the match.

Against Notre Dame, Carmona added 10 kills and a .364 attack percentage. Through both matches, she also combined for nine blocks which included a career-best five against Miami. She is just the ninth student-athlete in school history to earn ACC Freshman of the Week honors.
