GREENSBORO, N.C. – Florida State’s Cassie McLaughlin and Maryland’s Maria DiLivio were selected as this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Co-Player of the Week. McLaughlin, a true freshman, helped lead the Seminoles to a 3-0 record with two sweeps over conference foes North Carolina and NC State.
McLaughlin averaged 3.78 kills per game, 2.44 digs per game, 1.22 service aces per game and 0.67 assists and blocks per game in leading the Seminoles to three straight, 3-0 victories. The freshman outside hitter hit a combined .387 in the three matches connecting on 34 kills in 62 opportunities, committing only ten errors.
Against North Carolina, McLaughlin accumulated 14 kills to hit .391 for the match. She also collected nine digs and a block assist to lead the ‘Noles defensively. In Saturday’s match versus NC State, the Cary, Ill., native posted a .409 hitting percentage, along with a career-high six service aces.
McLaughlin and the Seminoles are back in action this weekend as they travel to Clemson and Georgia Tech on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
