Depending on what poll you use, Tuesday’s showdown will feature a meeting between two top 10 teams for the second time in a row. The Noles and Gators rank 5th & 6th, respectively in Baseball America’s top 25 poll. FSU is ranked in the top 10 in all five major polls.

Tyler Holt, a product of Gainesville, has faired well against the Gators over his career hitting .452 (14-for-31) in eight games. Holt has registered nine runs, six walks, two RBI and is 4-for-5 in the stolen base category. Stuart Tapley, Jack Posey and freshmen Jayce Boyd are the only current Seminoles to register a home run against Florida. Posey broke a 2-2 tie with a solo home run in the top of the fifth to give the Seminoles the one-run victory in Jacksonville last year. The home run could not have come at a better time as the heavens opened in the top of the sixth washing away the rest of the game. Tapley’s home run came in a 10-2 victory in Jacksonville in 2008. Boyd connected on a two-run shot in his first collegiate at-bat down in Tampa.

Last year in Gainesville, Florida’s Buddy Munroe came through with a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to lead Florida to a 5-4 victory over Florida State.
