FSU opened the 2009 campaign with a four-game sweep of Hofstra. Last year’s Saturday doubleheader was a tail of two stories as the Garnet and Gold scored a series-high 21 runs in game 1, while game 2 resulted in a one-run victory (3-2). The Seminoles were impressive on both sides of the ball during their four-game sweep of Hofstra to open the season a year ago. FSU hit .373 as a team tallying 50 hits including 17 for extra bases (12 doubles, four home runs). Defensively, the Seminoles posted a .975 fielding percentage. All four starting pitchers picked up a win as the team finished with a 3.18 ERA.

Senior Ohmed Danesh has had his way with the Pride over the years posting a career .563 batting average (9-for-16) with four doubles, one home run, eight RBI and three runs. Mike McGee, Stuart Tapley, Rafael Lopez and Danesh have all hit a home run against Hofstra.

Hofstra, under the direction of second year head coach Patrick Anderson, went 0-3 to open the 2010 season falling to Troy in a three-game set. The Pride was outscored 48-7 by the Trojans. Senior Ethan Paquette led the Pride in their opening series against Troy finishing the weekend hitting .364 with a double.

The Seminoles soared to No. 2 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 30 poll after taking all three games from Georgia State last weekend. The ranking is the highest for the Garnet and Gold since checking in at the same spot (No. 2) in both the NCBWA and Baseball America polls back on May 26, 2008.
