TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Fifth-ranked Florida State (33-11) wraps-up its current nine-game home stand Tuesday, May 4 at 6:00 p.m. on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium when the Seminoles host Jacksonville (20-18) for the third and final time this year.
In a series dating back to 1960, the Seminoles lead the all-time series 114-37, while maintaining a mark of 74-12 in games played on their home turf. Over the last three seasons, the two schools have split the series as each team won on their home turf in 2007, while exchanging wins at each others stadium in 2008. Last year, both schools held their own at home. In 2010, the two schools have split once again winning on each others home turf.
Florida State right hander Hunter Scantling will make his fourth start of the season and third career start against Jacksonville on Tuesday. Back on April 14, Scantling worked a career-high 7.0 innings against the Dolphins allowing two runs on four hits, while striking out six. Last year in Tallahassee, Scantling went 6.0 strong allowing just two runs on seven hits in earning the victory over JU. In three career appearances against the Dolphins, Scantling is 1-0 with a 2.93 ERA – 15.1 IP, 11 H, 5 ER, 5 BB, 11 SO.
