FSU leads the all-time series 60-25, while the Tar Heels hold a slim advantage on their home turf posting a 14-13 record. UNC has won the last three series in Chapel Hill with the last series victory for the Noles in Chapel Hill coming in 2000 when the Garnet and Gold took 2-of-3. Prior to 2000, FSU was 3-0-1 in series victories in Chapel Hill

Since 2003, the competition has been fierce between the two schools as 20 of the 26 games during that span have been decided by four runs or less including 13 games decided by one run. FSU is 10-3 in those one-run contests

Last year, the Seminoles won the season series taking 2-of-3 in Tallahassee including a pair of walk-off victories both in the ninth inning in games one and three.

In game one, Rafael Lopez drove in the game-winner sending a sac-fly to center plating D’Vontrey Richardson from third. The Seminoles scored two runs in the ninth for a 3-2 victory. Geoff Parker moved to 3-1 on the year working 2.1 scoreless innings in relief.

In the series finale, the late inning heroics belonged to Jason Stidham as the junior second baseman registered a walk-off, two-run single to lift the Seminoles to the 9-8 victory over UNC. The Noles erased a five-run deficit scoring four in the eighth and two in the ninth for the win.

This road series marks the first of a possible four trips the Seminoles will make to the Triangle Area. FSU will travel to Winston-Salem (April 9-11) and then a week later to Durham (April 16-18). The fourth trip could come at the end of May as the Noles hope to be one of eight teams that qualify for the ACC Tournament in Greensboro.
