TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 12 Florida State women’s basketball team is set to put its undefeated league road-record on the line Thursday night at Wake Forest.
The Seminoles (20-5, 8-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) and Demon Deacons (12-14, 3-7) tip off at 7 p.m. at Lawrence Joel Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, NC.
FSU is 6-0 on the road in league play this year.
The ‘Noles, who boast four double-digit scorers by average, are led by All-Star candidate Cierra Bravard. The Sandusky, Ohio native is averaging career highs in points (14.1) and rebounds (7.1).
Including the 6-0 ACC road mark this year, FSU is 17-2 in league opponents’ gyms since the 2008-09 season.
FSU and Wake Forest have met 38 times since the 1991-92 season with the Seminoles holding a 22-14 advantage in the series.
The ‘Noles are 8-8 all-time against the Demon Deacons in Winston-Salem.
The Seminoles have won 13 consecutive ballgames against Wake Forest dating back to the 2001-02 season. FSU has averaged margins of victory of 13 points during that current streak of ballgames.
With a win on Thursday, FSU would achieve at least 21 wins in a season for the fifth time in head coach Sue Semrau’s 14-season tenure and for the third year in a row.
Last season, Florida State crushed Wake Forest by a score of 83-38 at the Donald L. Tucker Center. In that game, Chasity Clayton had a monster outing with a 16-point, 10-rebound performance. The FSU defense limited the Demon Deacons to just 21 percent shooting.
After Wake Forest, FSU returns home to face Maryland on Sunday. That game will air live on ESPN2.
