TALLAHASSEE, Fla – The Florida State women’s swimming team, 7-2, 1-0, will be back in action on Friday, January 12 at 3 p.m. at the Bobby E. Leach Center when the Lady Seminoles host the No. 8 Texas Longhorns.

Co-head coaches Jill Sterkel and Mike Walker lead Texas into the with a dual meet record of 2-0. This is the first meet for the Lady Longhorns in the 2001 season and their first since the Texas Invitational on December 1-3. Texas placed third out of 14 teams at the Invitational, finishing behind nationally-ranked UCLA and Stanford.

The Lady Seminoles come into this week’s meet winners of their last three. The Noles started off the new year defeating Truman State University last Saturday 107-98 thanks in part to a big first place finish in the 200 Breaststroke by Keryn Krynauw. Keryn’s strong performances against the Bulldogs earned her ACC Swimmer of the Week honors.
The 50 Freestyle event will feature the top two swimmers in the nation. Texas’ Colleen Lanne (22.37) and FSU’s Christy Cech (22.64), one and two respectively, hold the fastest times this season. The 100 Freestyle should provide some excitement as well with both ladies ranked in the top five. Lanne holds the top spot with a time of 48.50 and Cech is ranked fourth with a time of 49.36.

This will be the first ever meeting between both teams in dual meet action.
