TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -The Florida State women’s tennis team completed action at the annual Lady Seminole Fall Classic. Georgia Tech won the Singles A, C and Doubles B Draws championship while Kentucky pulled away with the Singles B Draw and Doubles A Draw titles.
In singles flight A Florida State’s Anca Dumitrescu went up against preseason No. 38 Jaime Wong of Georgia Tech in the Singles Flight A championship. Dumitrescu fell to Wong 7-5, 6-4. In Singles Flight B Kentucky’s Nathalie Roels defeated Mysti Morris of Georgia Tech in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
The Yellow Jackets added another win on the day as Annelies Schenk won the Singles Flight C title over teammate Maria Nieto (7-5, 6-1).
In the B doubles draw of the classic it would be another Florida State – Georgia Tech battle as FSU’s Beth Lawrence and Daniela Gheorghe faced off against Maria Nieto and Catherine Gunn. Nieto/Gunn got the better of the Lady Seminoles as Tech took the match 8-4.
The Florida State women’s tennis team will return to action when they head to Gainesville for the Gator Invitational Oct. 4-6.
