FSU Women’s Tennis Falls To Duke, 7-2

ATLANTA – The Florida State women’s tennis team traveled to Atlanta,
Ga. to finish their match with the Duke Blue Devils on Tuesday. The Lady
Seminoles attempted to play Duke in Tallahassee at the end of March but rain
only allowed the two teams to play the six singles matches. So with the
score 4-2 in favor of Duke and three doubles matches yet to be played, the
two teams met in Atlanta to finish the contest. Duke prevailed Tuesday in
all three doubles matches to claim the victory 7-2.

Florida State falls to 4-4 in the ACC and 15-7 overall, while Duke
improves to 17-5 overall and 6-1 in the conference. In Tuesday’s match,
Duke’s No. 14 doubles duo of Erica Biro and Brooke Siebel knocked off Alida
Gallovits and Nanette Duxin 8-5 at No. 1. Duke’s Megan Miller and Hillary
Adams, who are ranked No. 51, defeated Kia Asberg and Marina Raic 9-8 at No.
2, and at the No. 3 spot FSU’s Ali Weber and Jessica Balbuena lost to Duke’s
Kathy Sell and Katie Granson 8-4. The singles play was completed on March
31st with Duke winning four of the six matches.

Florida State will travel to the ACC Championships to be held April 20-23
in Atlanta, Georgia. The Lady Seminoles will either play Georgia Tech or
Clemson in the first round.
