FSU Women’s Tennis Picks Up Second Road Win

Tallahassee, Fla. – The No. 34 Florida State women’s tennis team (4-3) picked up its second consecutive road win besting the San Diego Toreros, 4-3, at the USD West Tennis Courts in San Diego, California. FSU won the doubles point and picked up three singles wins in its fourth victory in seven matches this season.

The Seminoles number one doubles tandem, ranked #8 in the country, comprised of senior Mihaela Moldovan (Bucharest, Romania/Emil Racovita) and junior Lindsay Deason (Ft. Myers, Fla./Boca Raton Prep) won 9-8(5) against Kazarian/Brown. At number three, junior captain Miranda Foley (Cambridge, England/Houston) and freshman Tapiwa Marobela (Garborone, Botswana/Clapham) bested Livesay/Reitz, 8-4.

In singles, the Tribe picked up the number two, three and six positions. Sophomore co-captain Roxanne Clarke (Cape Town, South Africa/Clapham) won at number two, taking the two set match, 7-6(5), 6-2. Deason needed three sets for the victory, posting a final tally of 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(6). Senior Amberly Tantee (Dana Point, Calif./Futures), playing in her home state, won at number six singles, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(4).

FSU continues its west coast swing, facing San Diego State on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.
