TALLAHASSEE, FL.- The Florida State women’s tennis team is set to get back into action after canceling two tennis matches due to rain this past weekend. Saturday, March 24th the women will face the 64th ranked NC State Wolfpack, start time is set for 11:00 a.m. The Seminoles currently hold a ranking of No. 32 and lead the all-time series against the Wolfpack 9-1.
Florida State’s current record is 8-6 in dual match play. NC State will be the first ACC match of the season for the Seminoles. The Wolfpack enters Tallahassee with a record of 5-6 on the season and 0-1 in ACC action.
“NC State are a team of battlers so you can throw their ranking out the window,” FSU head coach Lise Gregory said. “We have to be fired up and motivated to play like we are capable of playing or they will surprise us.”
In the rankings the women’s tennis team is faring well with three members of the squad holding singles rankings in the ITA. Junior Alida Gallovits is ranked No. 48, freshman Christina Denny holds a 68th place ranking, and freshman Samantha Schoeffel, who remains undefeated in singles play, stands at No. 95.
Senior Day is approaching for the Lady Noles. Sunday, March 25th will mark the final scheduled home match of the season for the squad. This will be the day that the women’s tennis team will honor four members of this outstanding Seminole squad. The women will face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, Sunday March 25th at 11:00 a.m.
