FSU Women’s Tennis To Host Annual Lady Seminole Fall Classic

The Florida State women’s tennis team is set to host their annual Lady Seminole Fall Classic at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. FSU welcomes 10 teams from around the south in, Georgia Southern, Texas Christian, South Florida, Florida International, Florida, Auburn, Miami, Stetson, UCF and Jacksonville.

Florida State newcomer Lauren Walker receives a first round bye in the Singles flight A division and will see action Friday, Oct. 5 at 12:30 p.m. Senior returner for the Lady Seminoles, Jessica Balbuena is set to face Jacksonville’s T. Pinciotti Friday at 8:00 a.m. Sophomore newcomer for the FSU women’s team Anca Dumitrescu, who seeded third in the singles flight A has received a first round bye and will see match action at 12:30 p.m. Friday.

In singles flight B, Lady Seminole Amber Ly Tantee, who recently advanced to the finals round in the Roberta Alison Fall Classic, will face Jacksonville’s M. Dowumon, Friday the 5th at 8:00 a.m. In singles flight C, junior returner, Beth Lawrence will face Georgia Southern’s S. Williams at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 5.

Balbuena and Walker will team together in doubles action as they prepare to take on Jacksonville’s Pinciotti and Kaftalovich, while Lady Seminoles Alida Gallovits and Dumitrescu will receive a first round bye in the doubles A draw. In the B draw for doubles FSU’s Meredith Fish and Tantee will face FIU’s ElSawaf and Ly.

Match play begins Friday, Oct. 5 at 8:00 a.m. and will continue throughout the weekend, with the finals being held Sunday afternoon.
