Anca Dumitrescu lost to 5th seed Alyssa Cohen (6-3,6-3) this afternoon in the second round of the USTA Satellite Tournament in Tallahassee. The tournament is being played at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center on the campus of FSU. Dumitrescu advanced to the second round with a win over Paula Zabala (7-6(4), 6-1) Wednesday afternoon. This is the second year that Florida State has hosted a USTA Tournament.

“Cohen is a really good player. She has an aggressive game,” said Dumitrescu. “I just wasn’t moving very well today.”

Cohen, who hails from Parkland, Fla., is currently ranked 353rd in the world. The No. 1 seed, Mirjana Lucic, who advanced to the Wimbledon semifinals just two years ago, lost in the first round Wednesday.

The Tournament runs through Sunday, January 13th and admission is free to the public.
