FSU’s Joe Allen Takes Ninth In Men’s Long Jump

DURHAM, N.C. — The 2000 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field
Championships began Wednesday, May 31st and Florida State’s Joe Allen
placed ninth in the men’s long jump. The junior from Toledo, OH jumped
24’10.5″ to finish in the top 10.

Senior Iain Harnden ran in the preliminaries for the men’s 400m
intermediate hurdles and registered a time of 52.35. Harnden’s time did not
qualify him for the finals on Saturday.

FSU seniors Samantha George and Tonya Carter will run in
preliminary heats Thursday evening for their respective events, the 400m
and 100m dashes. Sophomore Makiba Batten will compete in the discus throw
on Thursday. Both the trials and finals of the discus competition will be
held on Thursday, June 1st.
