Florida State’s Mario Lowe and Lacey Janson earned Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week honors Monday as announced by the conference office. Lowe, a senior triple jumper shared the men’s honor with North Carolina’s Sal Gigante, while Janson shared the women’s honor with North Carolina’s Ibe Bilaye-Benibo.

At last Saturday’s Florida Intercollegiate meet, the first for the Seminoles in 2002, Lowe provisionally qualified in the triple jump with his winning mark of 51’6″ (15.71m). His first place finish was the top triple jump mark in the ACC this season.

In her first-ever collegiate meet Jansen, a former Junior World Champion, not only provisionally qualified for NCAA’s and won the pole vault, but also broke the FSU record with a vault of 13″1.5″ (4.00 meters). Jansen broke teammate Lindsay Osborn’s record of 12’7.25″ which was set last year. Her vault is also the top mark in the ACC this season.

Lowe, Janson and the rest of the Seminole track and field team will return to action on January 18, when they travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to compete at the two-day UNC Invitational.
