Feb. 7, 2006

Sun Sports takes viewers behind the scenes to see the inner workings of a major Division 1A women’s basketball program, as UNDER THE LIGHTS showcases the FSU women’s basketball team, Wednesday, February 8th at 7 p.m. Viewers will go behind closed doors this week with unparalleled access to the inner workings of the up and coming ACC contender.

Hosted by Sun Sports’ FSU reporter Tom Block, the half-hour show goes behind the scenes with multiple angles.

1. Just four years old, the on-campus basketball training center is a major plus for the FSU basketball program. Senior Holly Johnson takes Sun Sports’ cameras on a walking tour of the facility which also houses the men’s basketball team. A major addition to the FSU athletics landscape, this facility is truly state of the art. Johnson showcases the attributes of the building from a student-athlete perspective.

2. In mid-January, the Seminoles were off to a 10-6 start but coming off a disheartening loss to Maryland. Just three days later, Head Coach Sue Semrau had to get the ladies back on track and ready to play another conference foe in Clemson. Sun Sports followed the team to practice, team meetings and into the lockerroom before, during and after the victory over the Tigers. In this rare glimpse of the inner-workings of in-season sequence of events, Sun Sports and the Seminoles provide an experience rarely seen.

3. Senior guard Ganiyat Adeduntan, a nursing student and the team’s leading scorer, is the quintessential student/athlete. An honor student, Ganiyat’s commitment to helping people and balancing academics and athletics is chronicled as she attends nursing classes and later that day helps the Seminoles defeat Clemson. Adeduntan is a member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
