Sept. 12, 2000

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida State’s Xavier Luscan, a junior on
the men’s tennis team, has been ranked No. 26 in the Collegiate Tennis
Rankings for NCAA Division I men’s singles, in preseason rankings released
by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Monday.

Luscan, who hails from Paris, France, was one of six ACC players
who were ranked in the ITA preseason top 30. As a newcomer last season,
Luscan, who joined the team in January, went 16-8 overall, including a
dual
match record of 15-7 at No. 1 singles in the spring.

“Xavier showed last year that he is one of the leading players in
the country,” FSU Head Coach Dwayne Hultquist said. “For him to be ranked
among the top players in the country, preseason, is very deserving. He is
a very important part of our program and should continue to get better.”

The Seminoles begin competition later this month at the Southern
Intercollegiate, September 29-October 1, in Athens, Ga.
