TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The official game times for the 2014 Cancun Challenge at Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya tournament were announced on Thursday by tournament officials. Florida State women’s basketball will participate in the Cancun, Mexico-based field from Nov. 27-29.
The Seminoles, whom are playing in the Riviera Tournament, will first face Pac-12 opponent Washington on Thanksgiving afternoon at 3:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. CT. Florida State follows with a Friday tilt (Nov. 28) against Furman at 1 p.m. ET/noon CT, and end with a matchup against Hartford on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 3:30 p.m./2:30 p.m. CT.
Eight women’s Division I college basketball teams will each play three games at the newly-renovated Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya resort. The Cancun Challenge Riviera Tournament features Florida State, Furman, Hartford, and Washington. The Cancun Challenge Mayan Tournament features Charlotte, Montana, Princeton, and Wake Forest.
The teams each play one game per day in a true classic format. All games are played in the Central Time Zone and will be streamed live at CBSsports.com, ULive.
Florida State will be playing in Cancun for the second time in school history. During the 2008-09 season, the Seminoles participated in the Caribbean Classic against Northern Colorado, Washington and Connecticut in December just before the holidays.
The Cancun Challenge will mark Florida State’s third international tournament played in the last five seasons, as FSU won tournament titles at the Junkanoo Jam in the Bahamas in 2010-11 and at the San Juan Shootout in Puerto Rico in 2012-13.
