Florida State finished the 2014 season with 47 wins advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the 37th year in a row and 52nd year all-time. The Seminoles registered a 21-9 mark in the ACC en route to an eighth consecutive Atlantic Division title.

The 2014-15 team returns 19 players including eight positions players, five starters, and 11 pitchers. Florida State returns all three starting outfielders in DJ Stewart, Ben DeLuzio and Josh Delph, second baseman John Sansone and catcher Danny De La Calle. On the mound, the Seminoles welcome back six pitchers that threw at least 15.0 innings and three pitchers that made at least four starts.

These scrimmages will also mark the last chance this fall for fans to see the new faces in action before the start of the 2015 season. FSU welcomes 17 newcomers to this year’s recruiting class that was ranked 20th by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

This year’s class includes 11 freshmen, five JUCO transfers and one transfer from a four-year institution. The class is made up of seven pitchers (including two left handers), six infielders, one outfielder, one catcher and two utility players (listed on the roster at two or more positions including pitcher and catcher).

In last year’s scrimmage, Garnet topped Gold, 8-5. Justin Gonzalez paced the Garnet squad with two hits, two runs scored and an RBI, while freshman catcher and local product Gage West connected on a three-run shot to highlight a four-run fourth inning.

Brett Knief led the Gold team with a 3-for-4 night at the plate recording three singles and an RBI. DJ Stewart drove in a pair of runs on a sac-fly in the third and a single to center in the fifth. Josh Delph and freshman second baseman Hank Truluck had the only extra base hits for the Gold team as both players registered a double and scored twice.
