My prayers and thoughts go out to the whole Darling family. Devaughn was such an inspiration on the field at varsity football games giving his all on every play. I still remember talking to him about FSU since I love the Seminoles. Devaughn was a true definition of a team leader and a “Bulldog.” Devard keep your head up, just know Devaughn is watching over you now, until you eventually meet again.

Somedays it seems as if the pain is subsiding and then it hits again hard when i realize that you are no longer a phone call away, that you are no longer in your room or that i can no longer receive emails from you. the strangest thing did happen today, i received an email from you dated may 24,2000 telling me how you are sorry i would not be there to see you and devard walk across the stage at your high school graduation and as usual you were understanding giving me encouragement to pursue the path i am on and to remember that once i pray to god everything will be alright. devaughn i know without a shadow of a doubt that god personally selected you to be a guardian angel. even though you are my baby brother beyond our being siblings i have seen the goodness in both you and devard from birth. devaughn i know that you have lived a good life but i sometimes ask mummy if she thinks you wanted to go because you were so passionate about you and devard’s plans to be successful at fsu and for both of you to go to the nfl. we listened to you share you and devard’s dreams so often. your love, your passion your goodness i truly miss. i know that you are forever with us but i don’t believe we will ever not feel the pain. our basketball team is missing a player and will never be the same again. i love you so much and yearn for you to be here. your big sis.

My heart goes out to you all and remember there are many bright days ahead. your son was a wonderful athlete and was blessed with a great talent. My deepest sympathy goes out to the Darling family. I myself knows what it feels to loose a close love one. It may be hard at first to deal with the simple fact that he’s gone, but just remember God is at hand and with him all things are possible. May God bless and keep you! Danielle Edwards

As a former manager for the Men’s basketball team at Loyola and current law student at Loyola I continue to offer my prayers. While we are nearly four months from the terrible event that occured, my prayers still go out to the the families, friends and entire university community. May time heal your wounds, while never forgeting the spirit of the one’s we lost in January. As this school year ends and summer begins let that January day and one’s we lost always be remembered.

One night a man had a dream, he dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. In those scenes he noticed only one set of footprints in the sand. He turned to The Lord and said, ” Why during the lowest times in my life i only see one set of footprints. Why when i needed you the most you would leave me?” The Lord replied, ” My son, my precious precious child, i love you, I would never leave you. During your pain and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that i carried you.”

My thought and prayers go out to all the family and friends. Believe in Jesus. Let him be your backbone. That which does not kill us, makes us stronger! ” SEMINOLES #1 ”

I am currently in the United States Army and residing in Ft. Rucker Al. I went on vacation one week and decided to go to the home of the noles tallahassee although I live in the swamp I am in fact a huge noles fan, I got lost and couldn’t find my way around, not only that but me and my fiance were broke because his wallet was in my purse and my purse was stolen out of the hotel room we were staying at. I am 18 so I don’t speak to many people unless I know them but then this good looking man came up to me because of course I was upset and offered to show me around, he brought me to the campus and helped me find my hotel he also brought us to lunch and gave us 60.00 to get us food for the next few days The only name he gave me was Dev. then later on I realized who he was and wanted to thank him, only I couldn’t find him. the short time that I had known him I got to know a decent man who gives a whole new meaning to giving the shirt off his back. To this day I’ll never forget Devaugn Darling becuase the last name does in fact suit the personality.

GOD BLESS YOU.
