He was a valued member of the FSU family, the community of Tallahassee, and the world of college football. My family wishes to pass on our heartfelt senitment for the Darling family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you always.

I have followed the Darling brothers with interest over the past two years. I am amazed that two brothers from the same family can have so much character and other positive traits at such a young age. The Darling’s parents must be so proud. As a Florida State graduate, I am as passionate about Florida State football as anybody. To Devard Darling and the rest of the Florida State football team, let me say this-do not try to win a football game or a championship for Devaughn. His existence, and the impact he had on others, was far more important than the outcome of any football game.

Devaughn darling was one of the few linebackers that could run with the big dogs. he couldhave made it to the big show in the nfl.I think this season should be in the memory of Devaughn Darling you will be missed peace #53

As a current nursing student at FSU, the passing of Devaughn had a great impact on me. Although I did not know him personally, I spent many sleepless nights thinking of him. His life and death allowed us young people to realize that we are not immortal. We learned that the life we live and the name we make for ourselves while here is far greater than riches and fame. Through his demise, may more awareness and funding be me made to find a cure for sickle cell. As a nursing student, I have too often seen the pain these individuals go through. In closing, I would like to thank the Darling family for raising a terrific son, whose life has touched so many of us. You all are still in my prayers, and DeVard, I know each day is a challenge, but in time, it will all get easier. “Weepng may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” If you ever need anything, someone to listen, someone to talk to, or just someone to lean on, please, do not hesitate to contact! me via the sponsors of this site! Sincerely, T. Smith

No one will miss Devaugn more than his twin brother.

Sandra Schexnayder, Kenner, La
I have twin boys that are highschool football players. I can only imagine the pain your family is going through. My greatest concern and my prayers go to the family but also to the twin left behind. My sons are each others best friend and I don’t know how they would take it. They are together 24hrs a day.
They were both very sad to hear about Devaughn’s passing. They knew of him and his brother. They both want to play football for FSU and hoped to be there when the Darling boys were stilling playing.

Donnica Gordon (Miramar, FL)
I currently attend Florida State University and I heard of what happened. I just wanted to say that the family will be in my prayers. The lord will protect Devaughn in heaven…”Please don’t sing sad songs for me. I have a place in heaven, with the Master by my side. My life on earth was very good, as earthly lives can go, but Paradise is so much more than anyone can know…My heart is filled with happiness, and sweet rejoicing too. To walk with God is perfect peace, a joy forever new.” With our deepest sympathy to you and your family. You will be in our prayers.

I think people are entitled to know why this is happening so others may be spared the loss of a loved one. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

May 27, 2001: You are all still in my thoughts and prayers. Please know that many from near and far still hold you deeply in their hearts. Many are surprised by the success of the Minnesota Twins this year. Maybe they just needed a special announcer to put in a good word for them. Mr. Teegins, here’s to celebrating a Twins victory in October. I miss you greatly.

Precious (Orlando, FL)
My prayer is that we realize in all of this that God is truly sovereign and our life is but a “whiff” and then it’s gone. I challenge everyone who reads this comment to surrender their life to God and to pursue HIM with passion and fervency. Because the Word of God declares that it profits us NONETHING
to gain the whole world, and LOSE OUR SOULS. I pray for the family that you never lose the trust you have in God and to continue to go to the father in times of distress. I pray HIS presence never leaves your house and that your souls are blessed. God bless you.

Craig (Walton, NY)
You will always be remembered……thanks for the memories…..a huge seminole fan.

When somebody dies, a cloud turns intoan angel, and flies up to tell God to put another flower on a pillow. A bird gives the message back to the world, and sings a silent prayer that makes the rain cry. People disappear, but they never really go away. The spirits up there put the sun to bed, wake up grass, and spin the earth in dizzy circles. Sometimes you can see them dancing in a cloud during the day-time, when they’re supposed to be sleeping. They paint the rain- bows and also the sunsets and make waves splash and tug at the tide. They toss shooting stars and listen to wishes. And when they sing wind-
songs, they whisper to us, don’t miss me too much. The view is nice and I’m doing just fine.
My prayers are with all you!!

I’m truly sorry about this unfourtant tragedy. ithink the entire season should be played for this fine young man. it’s just so sad that he had to leave us this early in his life. he will be truly missed.

Mykel Coleman, Jacksonville, Fl
I’m deeply sorrowed by the loss of this young gentlemen. A son to his parents, a friend to other, a brother and counsin to others its definitely that this young man had an extremely bright future ahead of him. To the family, stay strong, think positive, and remember he died of a natural death and while doing something he loved to do and that’s play football. To his twin brother I look forward to meeting you at FSU for I’m planning on attending in the fall of 2001 and playing wide-receiver for the Seminoles. I’m sure we’ll become great friends. God Bless the family. Mykel Coleman
